What Is Fondue Bourguignonne?

 

Fondue Bourguignonne is a Meat Fondue consisting of pieces of steak impaled on forks, cooked in oil at the table and dipped in different sauces. 

A metal pot is used that sits securely on its base, for safety reasons.  You take your meat on one of the long fondue forks provided at the restaurant and  cook your own meat in the Fondue Pot to your liking. You then remove the cooked meat from the long fondue fork (which may be so hot that it can burn your lips) and use your table fork to eat the meat, dipping bites into the sauce(s) you prefer. 

It was  named by the Swiss in honor of its birthplace, the vineyards of the Bugundy region of France.
