About Olive Bistro
Olive Bistro is a small family run restaurant thriving in offering good quality food and service to our Patrons. Whilst Olive is a Mediterranean fruit, we do not restrict ourselves to cooking only this particular cuisine.

The Olive, known by the botanical name Olea Europea, meaning European Olive, is a species of small tree in the family Oleaceae, found in the Mediterranean Basin from Portugal to the Levant, the Arabian Peninsula, and Southern Asia as far East as China as well as the Canary islands.

The Olive Tree, Olea Europea is an evergreen tree or shrub Native to the Mediterranean, Asia and Africa. It is short and squat and rarely exceeds 8-15m height. Fossil evidence indicates the Olive tree had its origins some 20-40 million years ago in the Oligocene, in what is now corresponding to Italy and Eastern Mediterranean Basin.

The Olive Tree, Olea Europea has been cultivated for olive oil, fine wood, olive leaf and the olive fruits. About 90% of all harvested olives are turned into oil while about 10% are used as table olives. The Olive is one of the "Trinity" or "Triad" of basic ingredients in Mediterranean, the other two being Wheat for Bread and Pasta and Grapes for wine.
