YOUNGER DAYS
Growing up I was never inclined towards any sport or physical activity and was not encouraged to do so as I did not have natural athletic abilities. This lead to a struggle with weight and lack of self esteem during my teenage and young adult life. Eventually as a young mum in a professional career I felt trapped in a cycle thinking that as long as I did not lose the weight I would not be able to exercise, and it was very difficult to lose the weight with my sedentary lifestyle.
CHANGING
2009 was the year when I first heard about yoga and become interested in the subject. I got some books and started reading about it and even got myself to a class but did not have the courage to go in, so I walked away.
Finally in February 2012 I found the courage to participate in a yoga class. Soon after my first class I decided to book myself of a yoga intensive course for a week. My teacher at the time was very kind and supportive and with her I gently started my yoga journey.
Yoga was my spiritual practice that helped me to accept and love my self and to honour my body for all it could do. Yoga helped me to gain a sense for my self worth.
As my practice developed and I attended regularly I did start to get stronger and lose weight. I was happier with my practice, my relationship with my food improved considerably, I felt more alive and I found it easier to socialise.
As I got fitter through my asana practice, I become more open to taking part in other activities. I started to run and eventually I even started to work out at the gym and take part in other fitness classes.
STARTING AGAIN
By 2017, my physical and mental fitness become a priority in my life. As I understood that my body and mind are the only vehicles through which I can experience my life, I realised that the only way to enhance my life experience was to look after myself.
I felt so grateful for having had the opportunity to change my life that I felt inspired to promote health and fitness for everyone not just the elite athletes.
With appropriate help and support, most people have the ability to improve their mental and physical fitness. Through commitment to a balanced lifestyle including the right balance of exercise, work and socialising and healthy food everyone can achieve the best version of themselves.
I felt inspired to share the potential for well being and happiness with as many people as possible and to help other people to achieve the body and the peace they deserve.
2017 was the start of a new life. I signed up to train as a fitness instructor and personal trainer, enrolled on a yoga teacher training course and left my office job in finance.
